What is a Rain Garden ?
Rain gardens are a type of garden filled with native plants, that can fill up with rain and then slowly drain. They are a part of what is called green stormwater infrastructure. As the rain water soaks through the garden, the plants and soil help remove pollutants from stormwater. The garden helps reduce flooding, because it slowly soaks up and releases the stormwater at a slower rate, allowing the water more time to get into the landscape before going down a storm drain. Rain gardens can also be habitat for a variety of animals and pollinators that rely on native plants for sustenance.
- Filter pollutants from rainwater
- Reduce erosion and standing water
- Capture runoff water
- Improve drainage performance
- Reduces waste
- Refreshes yard
Seattle Rain Garden Design and Installation
Our team brings hands-on experience designing and installing rain gardens throughout Seattle, with a clear understanding of local rainfall patterns, soil conditions, and drainage challenges. Every system is engineered to manage stormwater effectively during Seattle’s wet seasons while meeting RainWise and municipal stormwater standards. From residential retrofits to complex lot conditions, we design rain gardens that improve drainage, reduce runoff, and protect local waterways—delivering long-term performance, regulatory compliance, and functional landscape solutions tailored specifically to Seattle properties. Our process includes site-specific infiltration testing, engineered soil preparation, and plant selections proven to thrive in Pacific Northwest conditions.
Our Seamless Process
We start by scheduling a free 30 minute site visit at your property. During the visit, we take measurements and discuss options. For a Rain Garden, we will begin the soil infiltration rate test. If we’re chosen to move forward with a RainWise project, and the soil rate is suitable, we will start by scheduling a free pre-inspection with the city. Once our design is approved, we complete the installation, schedule the post-inspection, and handle all of the paperwork to ensure that the rebate materials are submitted in a timely manner.
